Global Airbus–Boeing backlog tops 17,000 aircraft for the first time
ADS data show the combined Airbus and Boeing commercial backlog reached a record 17,037 aircraft at end-July 2026, even as Airbus, Boeing and COMAC posted their strongest January–July output since 2018 with 794 deliveries. At current rates the backlog equals more than 12 years of production. Supply, not demand, remains the binding constraint: slot scarcity keeps lease rates and mid-life values firm and pushes airlines toward extensions and leases.
